FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (www.jaxsportsday.com) — The New England Revolution (14-8-4, 46 points) scored two goals in stoppage time as Orlando City SC (10-12-4, 34 points) fell 4-2 in its visit to Gillette Stadium on Saturday night. The result keeps Orlando City sixth in the Eastern Conference with eight games remaining in the regular season.
The hosts took an initial two-goal lead by the hour mark via Carles Gil’s deflected effort in the 19th minute and Peyton Miller’s breakaway in the 59th minute.
Orlando City then cut the deficit just four minutes later when Justin Ellis played Martín Ojeda into the box and the pass took a deflection into the path of Iván Angulo, who slotted home to record his third goal in as many league games.
The Lions found an equalizer in the 88th minute after being awarded a penalty kick for a handball in the box. Ojeda stepped up to the spot to calmly convert his 12th goal of the MLS season and his second in consecutive matches after scoring midweek in the U.S. Open Cup. The Argentine has now logged three goal contributions in his last four matches across all competitions after missing the Lions’ first six MLS games after the summer break due to injury.
