Orlando City SC Falls 4-2 at Toronto FC on Decision Day

ORLANDO – Orlando City SC (14-9-11, 53 points) fell 4-2 to Toronto FC (6-14-14, 32 points) on Saturday night at BMO Field in its final regular season match. With the result, Orlando City will face Chicago Fire FC on the road in a 2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs Wild Card game on Wednesday, October 22. Additional details will be announced by the league following the conclusion of all Decision Day matches tonight.

An early goal from Jonathan Osorio and brace from Djordje Mihailovic put Toronto ahead 3-0 by the 48th minute. David Brekalo and Duncan McGuire found the back of the net for the Lions as they outshot Toronto 31 to 12 and forced goalkeeper Sean Johnson to make eight saves on the night, but were ultimately unable to flip the deficit and prevent their first loss at BMO Stadium under Oscar Pareja’s tenure.

Match Notes:

  • Defender David Brekalo scored his first goal of 2025 and his second all-time for the Lions. Both of Brekalo’s goals have come in regular-season action.
  • Forward Duncan McGuire scored his third regular-season goal of the year.
  • Forward Marco Pašalić provided the assist on the Brekalo strike, his fifth in MLS action and sixth across all competitions.
  • Defender Alex Freeman recorded an assist on McGuire’s goal, his third of the season and ninth goal contribution in regular season play this year.
  • Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese made his 200th appearance and start for Orlando City across all competitions, joining teammates Robin Jansson and Kyle Smith as the only Lions to appear in over 200 matches for the Club.
  • Head Coach Oscar Pareja made four changes to the Starting XI from the previous match against Vancouver Whitecaps FC, reintroducing David Brekalo, Alex Freeman, Duncan McGuire and Marco Pašalić to the lineup.
