(Florida Sports Day) – The Tampa Bay Lightning fell 5-3 to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at Benchmark International
Arena.
Yanni Gourde put the Lightning on the board at 7:31 of the second period. Gourde picked up his first goal and point of the season. Ryan McDonagh scored his first goal of the season with a slap shot from the left point. McDonagh scored the 81st goal of his career and is now up to 421 career points.
Darren Raddysh notched his third point of the season (1-2—3), scoring at 16:17 of the third period. Raddysh now has five points over his last six regular season games (2-3—5). Oliver Bjorkstrand recorded the primary assist on Raddysh’s goal and is now up to two points this season.
The Bolts were outshot 27-17, including a 16-2 deficit in the first period where they were outscored 3-1. Tampa Bay’s penalty kill successfully killed off all four of New Jersey’s power play opportunities.
The Bolts moved to 0-2-0 and will return to action on Monday afternoon at 1:00p.m. at TD Garden in Boston for a contest with the Bruins.
