IFL Recap: Knight Hawks Top Jacksonville Sharks in Vegas

, NV – The Jacksonville Sharks fought till the end in a tight second game in the Indoor Football League (IFL) against the Vegas Knight Hawks.

With immediate tension and some foul play, Hawks DB Bryce Hampton got a massive interception seven minutes into the first quarter igniting a fire within the Hawks for the rest of the game.

Hawks QB Ja’Rome Johnson started his second season in the IFL off strong with his first touchdown of the night sealing a 7-0 lead for the Hawks by the end of first quarter.

With some adjusting the Sharks answered quickly thanks to a good field goal attempt from Kicker Frankie Onate followed by a successful deuce just minutes into the second quarter.

The Hawks offense continued to defend its Vegas territory, as Johnson recorded a pass to WR Caleb Holley scoring another touchdown into the endzone.

QB Conor Blount had a pass complete to WR Brian Smith for 18 yards. The Sharks stayed on the board with another impressive pass from Blount to WR Kamrin Solomon securing the Sharks first touchdown of the night.

This was enough for the Hawks, as they struck again with a touchdown by RB Taurean Taylor in the final minutes of the first half. The Hawks doubled up the Sharks 24-12 going into halftime.

Hawks scored the first drive of the second half with another touchdown by Holley accompanying an injury scare from DL Gabriel McCoy who bounced back into the game seconds later.

The indoor war wasn’t over yet, however, as the Sharks got back in the game with a second touchdown from Solomon on the second yard line.

On the first play of the fourth, a matchup between Sharks QB Conor Blount and Hawks LB Makel Calhoun ended with Blount rushing 8 yards on first down without penalty. Following after, Sharks RB Logan Wright scored his first touchdown of the night, cutting into the Hawks lead.

The Hawks secured victory against the Sharks with a successful two-point conversion touchdown by RB Tauren Taylor followed by a pick-six by DB Bryce Hampton.

It was a high-scoring affair for the Sharks and the Knight Hawks. The Hawks put the game away with a final score of 39-33.

Taylor led the Hawks with two touchdowns and 43 yards.

Blount passed 167 yards and Solomon scored three touchdowns.

The Sharks will continue to look for their first win of the season in week four as they head home to face the Bay Area Panthers on April 6th.
