NHL: Lightning Blank Panthers 2-0 in Penalty Filled Preseason Matchup

ORLANDO – The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Florida Panthers 2-0 on Tuesday night at Amway Center in Orlando. The Lightning won their fourth consecutive preseason game and improved to 4-1-0 in preseason play.

Both of Tampa Bay’s goals came on the power play. Tanner Jeannot gave the Lightning a 1-0 lead at 5:24 of the first period, redirecting a pass from Tyler Motte. Nick Paul scored the Bolts’ second goal of the game at 10:46 of the third period, redirecting a pass from Alex Barre-Boulet on a 5-on-3 power play.

Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson stopped all 25 shots he faced to earn his second consecutive shutout. In two preseason games with the Bolts, Johansson has made 67 saves on 67 shots. He has yet to be scored on in a Lightning sweater.

The Lightning and Panthers combined for 160 penalty minutes. The Panthers were handed 82 minutes in penalties and the Lightning were dealt 78 penalty minutes.

The Lightning return to action on Thursday night against the Florida Panthers at AMALIE Arena. 7 pm puck drop.
