The Jacksonville Icemen, ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, announced today that goaltender Chase Wutzke has been assigned to Jacksonville ahead of the start of the season.
Wutzke, a native of Debden, Saskatchewan, was a fifth-round (142nd overall) draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2024. He played one game with the Iowa Wild in the AHL last year (his first in professional hockey) and a further six games in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders, boasting a 2.98 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage. Wutzke was 2-1-2 with the Heartlanders last season.
The 20-year-old netminder stands at 6-2, 161 pounds, and has five years of Canadian major-junior hockey experience with the Red Deer Rebels and the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL. He will be the fourth player the Iowa Wild have assigned to Jacksonville ahead of this season, joining forwards Drew Kuzma and Blake Biondi, along with defenseman Reilly Webb.
The Jacksonville Icemen open their 10th Anniversary Season on October 16 at home against the South Carolina Stingrays. Full and Partial Ticket plans are available by calling 904-602-7825, or by visiting www.jacksonvilleicemen.com.
