ECHL: Jacksonville Icemen Sign Veteran Brandon Yeamans, Rookie Kyle Bettens

JACKSONVILLE (www.jaxsportsnews.com) -– The Jacksonville Icemen, ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Brandon Yeamans and forward Kyle Bettens for the 2026-27 season,
Yeamans, 28, is a veteran of five seasons in the ECHL, first entering the league in 2022 with the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Yeamans returns to Jacksonville after a brief stint with the Icemen during the 2022-23 campaign, where he starred in 23 games. The Maple, Ontario native has also enjoyed ECHL stops in Florida (2022-23), Allen (2023-24), Rapid City (2023-24), Iowa (2024-25), Norfolk (2024-25) and, most recently, Bloomington where he played for a single game in 2024-25 and 63 games as the Bison’s assistant captain in 2025-26. In total, Yeamans has played in 223 ECHL contests and has accumulated 468 penalty minutes to go along with his 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists).
Before starting his professional career, the 510, 174-pound forward played three seasons at York University in the Canadian USports league and four seasons in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) with the Mississauga Chargers and the North York Rangers. Yeamans was a two-time captain for the Chargers from 2017-2019.
Bettens, 25, made his professional hockey debut last season with the Indy Fuel, suiting up for two games. This season will be Bettens’ first full year in the ECHL. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native played four years of NCAA Division I college hockey with the University of Minnesota-Duluth (2022-2025) and Northern Michigan University (2025-2026).
He had 43 points (14 goals, 29 assists) in 132 collegiate games.
Before his college career, the 6’3, 216-pound forward played two years of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Omaha Lancers and Youngstown Phantoms from 2020-2-22 and two seasons with the Steinbach Pistons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) from 2019-2020.

Schedule Update
The Jacksonville Icemen announced two additional road games for the upcoming 2026-2027 season along with a time change for the October 31 home game against Atlanta. The Icemen have announced two additional road games in Orlando, Florida against the Solar Bears on Tuesday, December 15 at 7:00 pm and on Wednesday, January 13 at 7:00 pm. In addition, the Icemen have changed their start time for the October 31 home game against the Atlanta Gladiators to 3:00 pm.
