Brady’s Bunch: Hartford Athletic Secures Season-Opening Victory Over Sporting Jax, 3-0

JACKSONVILLE – Hartford Athletic launched their 2026 USL Championship season with a decisive 3-0 win against Sporting Club Jacksonville on Saturday night at Hodges Stadium.

Augustine Williams, Samuel Careaga, and Adewale Obalola each found the net, securing all three points for the visiting team in a match that also saw a silent demonstration regarding the ongoing USL Championship labor dispute.

Prior to kickoff, both teams participated in a 60-second period of silence, a league-wide gesture to highlight the players’ concerns regarding the current labor negotiations.

Notably, the broadcast and stadium announcer did not acknowledge the demonstration, a decision that underscored the seriousness of the players’ commitment to securing a more favorable contract.

The initial stages of the match saw Sporting Jax with a slight edge, though Hartford appeared to be adjusting to the start of the season. The first fifteen minutes were largely uneventful, with both sides struggling to establish a consistent attacking rhythm. Hartford’s set-piece execution proved particularly ineffective, indicative of limited preseason preparation.
