Orlando City SC Battles to Scoreless Draw Against New York Red Bulls

ORLANDO – Orlando City SC (3-2-3, 12 points) played to a scoreless draw against the New York Red Bulls (3-2-3, 12 points) at Inter&Co Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With the draw, the Lions extended their unbeaten streak to five consecutive matches.

Goalkeeper Pedro Gallese recorded back-to-back shutouts following the draw against the Red Bulls. Gallese faced 10 shots but was assisted by the defense as he only had to make one save on the day. His shutout also serves as the first at home since the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Atlanta United last November.

The Lions’ defense was able to combat the efforts of the New York Red Bulls after losing Rodrigo Schlegel to a second yellow card in the 56th minute. Down a man for over 30 minutes, City was able to keep the Red Bulls scoreless through 90 minutes.

City’s attack put up 14 shots on the day. The Lions created various scoring chances in the first half from their Designated Players’ Luis Muriel, Marco Pašalić and Martín Ojeda, with Muriel and Pašalić each recording mulitple shots on goal.

The Lions go international as they make a trip north next Saturday, April 19, for a showdown against CF Montréal. Kickoff on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV from Stade Saputo is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
