HOUSTON (Florida Sports Wire) – The Houston Texans’ Matt Ammendola’s potential game tying 58-yard field goal hit the crossbar, falling to the turf inches short in a 24-21 loss to the AFC South Division leading Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday.
Jacksonville kicker Brandon McManus recorded three field goals and one extra point. His extra point marks the 300th in his career. McManus’ 23 field goals made this season is the third-most through Week 12 in franchise history. Five out of his 23 field goals this season have been from 50+ yards.

Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence completed 23 passes on 38 attempts for 364 yards with one touchdown and one rushing touchdown. In the first half, QB Trevor Lawrence recorded 10 completions for 219 yards, marking a career-best.
Jaguars’ wide receiver Calvin Ridley posted five receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown, eclipsing 4,000 career receiving yards. Travis Etienne Jr. ran for 56 yards on 20 attempts and recorded four receptions for 30 yards. Evan Engram had five receptions for 49 yards.
Houston QB C.J. Stroud threw for a pair of touchdowns, ran for another, and completed 26-of-36 passes for 304 yards. He wasn’t picked off, and 10 different Texans caught a ball from the rookie signal-caller.
“C.J. is playing lights out,” Lawrence said. “He’s doing a great job. To be a rookie and to play how he is, I’ve got a lot of respect for him. I know how hard it is. I’ve been in that position. He’s doing a great job, and it’s going to be fun for years to come hopefully.”
The Jaguars’ Josh Allen recorded five total tackles (four solo), four quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks and two tackles for loss. Foye Oluokun posted 12 total tackles (nine solo). Devin Lloyd recorded eight total tackles (six solo).
The AFC South leadfing Jaguars have won all five road games so far and hold a 4-1 record against AFC South opponents this season.
