ECHL: Solar Bears Pick up First Road Win of Season at Expense of Icemen

JACKSONVILLE (SportsTicker) – Jacksonville (4-5-0) returned home Friday night to host Orlando (3-4-1) following Thursday’s 2-1 overtime win in Greenville.

Steve Olesky scored twice to lead the Solar Bears to a 5-2 win over the Icemen. The Solar Bears came into the game looking for their first road win of the season.

Orlando’s Matthew Barnaby scored to open the final period to make it 3-1. But Ara Nazarian cut into the Solar Bears lead with his fourth tally of the season.

The visitors took a 2-1 lead into the final period.

Jacksonville avoided a shutout with Victor Hadfield’s second of the goal of the season with four seconds to play in the middle period.

Olesky notched his first goal of the season at the 3:20 mark of the first period. Tristan Langan made it 2-0 late in the second.

The Solar Bears’ Jack LaFontaine stopped 35 shots. Jacksonville’s Parker Gahagen made 21 saves.

The game went without a penalty until the 6:29 mark of the third when Jacksonville’s Cristiano DiGiacinto and Orlando’s Dimitry Semykin were sent off for roughing.

Brayden Guy made it 5-2 with an open net goal.

The Icemen host the Trois-Rivières Lions Saturday night at 7 p.m.
