MNF: Bengals Take Jaguars to Overtime in 34-31 Win; Lawrence Injured

JACKSONVILLE (Florida Sports Wire) – Evan McPherson’s 48-yard field in overtime gave the Cincinnati Bengals (6-6) a 34-31 win over the Jaguars (8-4) in the first nationally televised Monday Night Football game in Jacksonville since 2011.

His 54-yarder gave the Bengals a short-lived lead 31-28 with 2:28 to play. McPherson, from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., had missed earlier from 57-yards.

Starting QB Trevor Lawrence left the game with 5:43 to play after sustaining an ankle sprain. He will undergo tests tomorrow to determine the severity of the sprain.  Lawrence was 22 of 29 passing for 258 yards.

The Jaguars Brandon McManus tied the game on a 40-yard field goal with 26 seconds to play. He missed a 43- yard field goal with 5:03 to play.

Cincinnati quarterback Jake Browning, making his first NFL start, tied the game, 28-28, on a one-yard plunge with 9:27 to play in the game. Browning was 32 of 37 passing for 354 yards.

Browning connected with Ja’Marr Chase on a 76-yard pass play in the third quarter to give Cincinnati their first lead of the game, 21-14. Lawrence and the Jaguars responded with a 12-play, 84-yard drive ending in a 14-yard TD pass to Parker Washington.

The Bengals were intercepted by Josh Allen on a trick play on their next possession. Two plays later Lawrence’s one-yard keeper reclaimed the lead, 28-21.

The game was tied at the half 14-14.

The Bengals’ Joe Mixon scored twice in the first half on runs of six and two yards.

Jacksonville running back Travis Etienne Jr. scored on a four-yard run in the first quarter. Tight end Evan Engram caught his first touchdown of the season in the second quarter.

It was the first Cincinnati Road win on MNF since 1990.
