JACKSONVILLE – The Jacksonville Icemen, ECHL Affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, announced that they have completed a trade with the Indy Fuel ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The Icemen have acquired the ECHL rights to defenseman William Ennis and a player to be named later in exchange for the ECHL rights to defenseman Brayden Hislop.
Ennis, a 6-3, 209-pound defenseman from Russel, Ontario, is entering his second season in the ECHL after staring in 63 games for the Fuel in his rookie campaign last year. Ennis finished the season with four points (one goal, three assists) and a minus-five rating. Before starting his professional career, Ennis played Canadian university hockey with the University of Windsor from 2021-2025 and five years in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Oshawa Generals from 2017-2021.
Hislop has seen the last two seasons with the Icemen, netting 25 points (6 goals, 19 assists) in 81 games for Jacksonville. Hislop was called up to the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Rockford IceHogs where he garnered four assists in 13 games. The IceHogs are the current AHL affiliate of the Indy Fuel.
Jacksonville will play one preseason matchup at the Community First Igloo on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 pm. The Icemen will take on the Savannah Ghost Pirates, offering fans an early look at the squad heading into the 10th Anniversary season.
