HENDERSON, NV – The Jacksonville Sharks suffered their first loss of the season, falling to last years champions the Vegas Night Hawks by a final score of 54-43 at Lee’s Family Forum.
The game began as a back and forth affair, with the Sharks carrying a 14-13 lead going into the second quarter. A quick scoring drive by the Knight Hawks followed by a pick-six gave Vegas a lead they never relinquished, maintaining a multi-score lead right up until the final whistle.
The Jacksonville Sharks held advantages in several key statistical categories, totaling 286 yards of offense and controlling possession for more than 38 minutes. Vegas, meanwhile, finished with 242 yards and just over 31 minutes of possession.
Jacksonville’s production was fueled by a balanced passing game that generated 223 yards on 19-of-27 attempts, while the Knight Hawks found success on the ground, rushing for 105 yards and averaging an impressive 6.2 yards per carry. Despite the Sharks’ edge in first downs (14–10), third-down efficiency (50 percent), and return yardage (98–41), Vegas capitalized on their opportunities with a more explosive yards-per-play average and a timely defensive takeaway, helping swing momentum in key moments. The Sharks defense couldn’t get a stop all night and that along with a couple bad penalties was the difference in the game.
