COLUMBUS – The Tampa Bay Lightning lost 3-2 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night in Columbus.
The Lightning were outshot 31-24, including deficits in the first (11-6) and second (14-3) periods. The Lightning’s penalty kill went 2-for-2 on Saturday and improved to 19-for-21 (90.5%) overall this season.
Kirill Marchenko scored early in the third period giving the Blue Jackets their first home victory of the season. Kent Johnson and Damon Severson also scored for the Blue Jackets.
Ryan McDonagh put the Lightning on the board and tied the game with his second goal of the season at 12:42 of the first period. Anthony Cirelli scored his team-leading third goal of the season and is now up to four points (3-1—4)
The Bolts moved to 1-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 on the road.
Next game is on Thursday night at Benchmark International Arena where they will take on the Chicago Blackhawks for a 6:45p.m. puck drop.
