ECHL: Savannah’s Hughes named Inglasco Player of the Week

SHREWSBURY, N.J. – Riley Hughes of the Savannah Ghost Pirates is the Inglasco ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3.

Hughes scored two goals and added three assists for five points in three games last week.

The 24-year-old had a goal in a 4-1 win against Orlando on Wednesday, picked up a goal and an assists in a 5-2 victory at Greenville on Friday and dished out a pair of assists in a 4-2 triumph over Atlanta on Saturday.

Under contract to Charlotte of the American Hockey League, Hughes leads ECHL rookies with five goals and 10 points in six games this season. He has also skated in one AHL game with the Checkers.

A native of Westwood, Massachusetts, he made his pro debut last year with Iowa posting four points (3g-1a) in 12 games with the Heartlanders.

Prior to turning pro, Hughes totaled 37 points (12g-25a) in 141 career collegiate games at Northeastern University and Ohio State University.

Wichita’s Stinil named Warrior Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

Michal Stinil of the Wichita Thunder has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for October. It is the second time in his career that he has received the monthly honor.

Stinil scored seven goals, added five assists and was a +9 in five games during the opening month of the ECHL season.

The 25-year-old tallied at least one point in each of his five games, and had four multi-point performances. Stinil had four points (1g-3a) on Oct. 25 against Tulsa and three points (2g-1a) on Oct. 26 against the Oilers. He was named ECHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27 and was one of four recipients of the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month award.

A native of Decin, Czechia, Stinil leads the ECHL with eight goals and 14 points in eight games for the Thunder this season.

Stinil has recorded 190 points (84g-106a) in 192 career games with Wichita while also skating in two career games with San Diego of the American Hockey League.

Prior to turning pro, Stinil posted seven points (2g-5a) in 18 career games at American International College.

Adirondack’s Brodeur named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

Jeremy Brodeur of the Adirondack Thunder has been named the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October.

Brodeur, who is under contract to Utica of the American Hockey League, went 2-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .981 during the opening month of the ECHL season.

The 28-year-old turned aside 25 shots in a 2-1 season-opening win at Norfolk on Oct. 18 before making 27 saves in a 2-0 shutout against Trois-Rivières on Oct. 26.

A native of Essex Fells, New Jersey, Brodeur has seen action in 133 career ECHL games with Adirondack, South Carolina, Maine, Allen and Norfolk compiling an overall record of 52-48-13 with three shutouts, a 3.09 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910. He has also appeared in five career AHL games with Utica, Binghamton and Providence and seven career games in the SPHL with Knoxville and Peoria.

Prior to turning pro, Brodeur saw action in 124 career games with Oshawa of the Ontario Hockey League where he went 70-40-9 with 11 shutouts, a 2.81 goals-against average and a save percentage of .909.
