Gameday: Wolves and O’Neil Prepared for USA Pre-Season Trip

The Old Gold crossed the pond to take part in the Stateside Cup, where they’ll face West Ham United and Crystal Palace, before signing off with a meeting with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Between games, Gary O’Neil and his staff will put the squad through another testing training schedule, while time will also allow for downtime and commercial opportunities in a different culture.

It’s the first time Wolves’ first-team has visited the United States in 43 years and, as well as Miami, they’ll visit Jacksonville, also in Florida, and Annapolis in Maryland. For more information on the tour, click here.

“I’ve been really excited because it’s my first time here [in the US]. In the past I’ve wanted to come here on vacation with my girlfriend, so it’s good now to be here, knowing the country and Miami, and now I’m enjoying it.

“No jetlag for me – I slept really well at night and I felt good. It’s going really well. It’s very hot here, the weather is different to England, but it’s really nice. The pitches are amazing and we’re improving our football and our friendships, and that’s good.

“It’s really nice, the pitch, the setup. It’s really hard to train in this weather, but it’s nice. It’s really good because you’re 24-7 with your teammates and it’s nice to spend time with each other and it’s good for us because it’s important to have a family here, to help each other. If someone needs help, I can help, and if I need help, someone can help. It’s nice to know each other – it’s really important.”
