IFL Recap: Rattlers Defeat Sharks in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE – The Arizona Rattlers defeated the Jacksonville Sharks by a final score of 55-41 in Jacksonville on Saturday night. Even with new starting quarterback Nkosi Perry, the Sharks fell short .

The game started with Arizona winning the coin toss and deferring to Jacksonville. The Sharks got off to a scary start with a fumble. With the drive stallled the Sharks attempted a field goal, which was blocked by Arizona’s #90. The Sharks caught a break when an Arizona player touched the ball and the Sharks recovered it.

This gave the Sharks back the ball. DJ Stubbs managed a crucial first down before #7 Nkosi Perry scored the game’s first touchdown, followed by a successful extra point. Arizona responded with a 30-yard pass to Reed Jr., culminating in a touchdown by #3 Brooks and a successful extra point. Perry scored another touchdown for Jacksonville, concluding the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Arizona’s #2 Jamal Miles scored a touchdown with a successful extra point. Jacksonville gained an automatic first down due to an Arizona penalty, leading to a successful field goal from the Sharls new kicker. Arizona’s #6 scored another touchdown, maintaining their momentum with a successful extra point.

Jacksonville’s DJ Stubbs caught a 45-yard pass for a touchdown, but Arizona responded with a touchdown pass to #17. Jacksonville’s #3 Tyler King scored a touchdown before Arizona attempted a kick to pull ahead, leaving the half-time score at 34-35 in favor of Jacksonville.

The third quarter saw Arizona pulling ahead with two more touchdowns, bringing the score to 34-41 and then 34-48. Jacksonville managed a field goal but struggled to keep up with Arizona’s offensive onslaught.

In the fourth quarter, Jacksonville’s new QB Perry made multiple rushing attempts, but an interception by Arizona halted their progress. Boom Williams scored a touchdown for Jacksonville on their next drive, but Arizona responded with another touchdown, sealing the game. The game ended with Arizona defeating Jacksonville 55-41.

The Sharks will continue to make adjustments until they can pull off another win. Next Saturday, the Sharks will take on the Tulsa Oilers at home for the third game in a row at the VyStar Memorial Aren
