ECHL Recap: Jacksonville 2, Atlanta 1

JACKSONVILLE (SportsTicker) – The Jacksonville Icemen (29-15-1) returned home Friday night and defeated the Atlanta Gladiators (24-16-5-1) 2-1 before 6,971 at Veterans Memorial Arena.

The Icemen were coming off a 2-1 loss Wednesday at Florida that ended a five-game winning streak.

Christopher Brown (18) scored the winning goal in the third period.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead on Mike Pelech’s eighth goal of the season. Zach Jordan evened things up late in the second. It was his 14th goal of the season.

Joe Murdaca made 27 saves in goal for the visitors. Olof Lindbom stopped 28 shots for the Icemen.

Jacksonville hosts Greenville Saturday night. Atlanta hosts Cincinnati in a two-game series. (SportsDay photo by Nancy DeLander Beecher)
