JACKSONVILLE (SportsTicker) – Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw for two touchdowns and Robbie Gould kicked three field goals as the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-10 Sunday at TIAA Bank Field.

“I was extremely disappointed with everything about today, but you keep going and keep working,” said Jacksonville Head Coach Urban Meyer said. “There are times we played excellent football. Today wasn’t one of those days.”

Garoppolo’s short pass over the middle to tight end George Kittle gave the visitors a 24-point lead heading into the final quarter. Garoppolo was 16 of 22 for 176 yards.

It was a dominating performance. San Francisco didn’t punt until 2:52 left in the third quarter. They generated 336 yards of total offense compared to the Jaguars’ 200.

The 49ers led 20-3 at the half when Gould kicked his second field goal of the contest. He would add a 45-yard late in the game.

The Jaguars did show some life late in the second quarter. Jacksonville drove to the 49ers’ 12-yard line.

Matthew Wright kicked a 30-yard field goal following the two-minute warning. Running back James Robinson would dive over from the one with 3:04 to play in the game.

QB Trevor Lawrence was 16 of 25 for 158 yards. Wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. led the Jaguars with 52 yards receiving on four receptions. Laviska Shenault Jr. caught five passes for 50 yards.

A Shenault fumble, after catching a pass from Lawrence at the Jacksonville 31, and two major penalties set up the next San Francisco TD.

Starting safety Rayshawn Jenkins was ejected for throwing a punch. And the Jaguars were flagged with a roughing the passer call.

“If we didn’t have as many penalties, we would have had momentum earlier, and I feel like that could have changed the outcome of the game,” said Jacksonville defensive end/linebacker Josh Allen.

Garoppolo eventually threw a six-yard pass to Brandon Aiyuk to make it 17-0 with 8:25 to play in the first quarter.

San Francisco increased an early lead when Deebo Samuel ripped off a 25-yard run on their second possession in the second quarter for his third rushing TD of the season.

The 49ers not only drove the length of the field to start the game but held on to the ball for all but 1:55 of the first quarter. Three defensive penalties helped the San Francisco cause during the 87-yrd, 20 play drive.

Gould made it 3-0 with his 20-yard field goal.

Wide receiver and kick returner Jamal Agnew was placed on injured reserve Monday. Agnew sustained a hip injury Sunday.

The Atlanta Falcons (4-6) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8) square off Sunday at TIAA Bank Field at 1 p.m.

The Falcons have dropped three of their last four games and have scored just three total points over their last two outings. Atlanta suffered a 25-0 home defeat to the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football in their last outing.
