COLUMBIA – Quarterback Jason Brown threw for two touchdowns, Kevin Harris and ZaQuandre White each rushed for over 100 yards as heavy underdog South Carolina’s upset Florida 40-17.

Florida coach Dan Mullen’s Gators have struggled. Losing four of the past five and three straight for the first time since 2017.

“You go look throughout the season, there’s a lot of little things that have gone wrong,” Mullen said. “We’re not doing things that you play winning football at.”

The Gamecocks, an 18-point underdog, rolled 459 yards, including a season-high 284 on the ground as running backs Harris (128) and White (111) each rushed for more yards than the Gators had on the night (82).

The Gators entered averaging 242 yards a game on the ground and 483 yards of total offense, third best in the SEC.

Florida led 7-3 midway into the first quarter following a 12-yard touchdown pass from QB Emory Jones to Xzavier Henderson. He would add a 61-yard TD pass to freshman Marcus Burke.

Florida (4-5, 2-5) dropped to fifth in the SEC East, two behind the Gamecocks (5-4, 2-3) in the loss column.

“I didn’t see it coming. I’m obviously really disappointed,” Mullen said. “You give them credit, their guys played really well, made plays that were there to be made.”

Parker White kicked four field goals and defensive tackle Jabari Ellis had an 18-yard fumble recovery touchdown. Brown led South Carolina on five first-half scoring drives for a 30-10 lead at half.
