ECHL: Jacksonville Takes Solar Bears to OT in 3-2 Win

JACKSONVILLE – The second matchup in a three-game series went to Jacksonville in a 3-2 overtime win over the Orlando Solar Bears before 3,467 at Veterans Memorial Arena.

Craig Martin scored with 3:33 left in OT to seal the victory. It was his sixth goal of the season.

Aaron Luchuk opened the scoring for the visitors on a power play in the first period.

The Icemen took a 2-1 lead on goals by Jacksonville leading scorer Nick Saracino and Brendan Warren. It was Saracino’s eighth goal of the season.

Tristan Langan tied the game for Orlando with his fifth goal of the season.

On Friday night Orlando Solar Bears reeled off three straight goals in the first period en route to a 3-2 win over the Icemen at the AdventHealth Rink at Amway Center.

Ara Nazarian found the back of the net for the Icemen just 56 seconds into the middle frame. Jacksonville’s Derek Lodermeier cut the lead to one goal at 13:32 of the third.

Jacksonville was 0 for 4 on the power play.

Kyle Keyser made 21 saves for the Icemen. Michael Lackey stopped 24 shots for the Solar Bears.

The clubs meet again Sunday at 3 p.m. on Jacksonville.

ICEMEN NOTES: Jacksonville announced that forward Ian McKinnon has been loaned to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL). McKinnon, 22, has registered a goal with 67 penalty minutes in 16 games played with the Icemen this season. McKinnon recorded three points (1g, 2a) with 68 penalty minutes in 26 appearances with Jacksonville last season.
