ECHL: South Carolina Hangs on for 3-2 Road Win Over Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE – South Carolina skated to a 3-2 ECHL victory over Jacksonville Saturday night before 3,468 at Veterans Memorial Arena.

South Carolina improved to 4-1-2-0. Jacksonville fell to 2-5-1-0.

The Icemen cut the Stingrays lead on their second power play goal of the night. A goal by Jason Binkley made it 3-2 with less than eight minutes to play in the game.

This visitors struck first in the contest with a goal by Brett Supinski, scoring his inaugural goal of the season, assisted by Dan DeSalvo.

The Icemen tied the game in the second period on a power play goal by Andrew Peski, his first as pro, assisted by Chris Brown and Ara Nazari. Peski also had the assist on Binkley’s goal.

The Stingrays went ahead again with 50 seconds to play in the second period on a goal by Cole Ully assisted by Max Novak and Doyle Somerby

Caleb Herbert made a 3-1 game heading in the third. Novak and Ully picked up the assists.

South Carolina goaltender Hunter Shepard left the game with an injury after making six saves in the first period. Alex Dubeau replaced Shepard and made 16 saves.

Kyle Kesyer made 24 saves in his third start in goal for Jacksonville.

The Icemen finished 2 for 4 on the power play. The Stingrays were 0 for 4.

Jacksonville is at Florida for a Wednesday face off at 7:30 pm. South Carolina hosts Wheeling Saturday night at 6:05 p.m.
