ECHL: Rabbit Scores Twice in Jacksonville Icemen’s 4-3 Win Over Greenville

JACKSONVILLE – What a difference a day makes.

The Jacksonville Icemen (1-1) held off the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (1-1) Saturday night for a solid 4-3 ECHL victory before 3,149 at Veterans Memorial Arena.

Just one day after they were thrashed on the ice and scoreboard by the Florida Everglades, 6-1.

Veteran Wacey Rabbit notched two goals.The Icemen built a 2-0 lead with 11 minutes to play in the opening period. Ara Nazarian and Rabbit scored in a 30-second span.

Jacksonville made it 3-0 when Rabbit tallied their first power play goal of the season. Against Florida the Icemen went 0 for 9 on the power play.

Greenville scored twice with four minutes to play in the second period.

Kamerin Nault and Joey Haddad made it a 3-2 game heading into the final 20 minutes.

Jacksonville increased their lead 20 seconds into the final period when Nick Saracino scored on the second power play goal of the night. The Icemen were 2 for 5 on the power play.

With 8:38 to play in the game the Swamp Rabbits capitalized on their first power play of the night on a goal by Mike McNamee. Greenville finished 1 for 3 with a man advantage.

Eamon McAdam turned back 27 shots for the Icemen. Jacob Ingham made 13 saves for the visitors.

The Icemen’s Ian McKinnon tangled with Bryan Moore late in the first period. The game saw a total of 24 penalties minutes.

Jacksonville is home Friday night against the South Carolina Stingrays. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
