JACKSONVILLE — The Norfolk Admirals came into Wednesday night’s game against the Icemen having just 13 wins this season and sitting in last place in the ECHL Southern Division.

That had to boost Jacksonville’s confidence as they strive for a playoff spot entering the final month of the season.

But it wasn’t going to be easy. At least not at first.

Bobby Lynch eventually scored a hat trick as the Icemen upended the Admirals 9-6.

It was the Icemen’s second hat trick of of the season. Pierre-Luc Mercier netted a hat trick to guide the Jacksonville to a 7-3 victory over the Atlanta last month.

Down by two goals in the second period Lynch and then Brendan Warren lit the lamp against goalie Jake Theut to tie the game.

Theut was replaced in the final period by Sean Romeo.

The change in net seem to give the visitors new life after trailing 7-4. Goals by Alex Tonge and Scott Dornbrock made it a one goal game with 12 minues to play.

But consecutive goals by Dajon Mingo and Chase Lang on a power play sealed the deal for Jacksonville.

Adam Carlson made 17 saves in the win.

Norfolk’s River Rymsha put the visitors up early with his seventh goal of the season.

The clubs then traded power play goals.

With former Icemen forward Mitch Vandergunst sitting in the penalty box, Jacksonville got on the scoreboard with a goal by Lynch.

The Admirals took advantage of Adam Dauda being sent off for hooking. Joe Masonius notched his first goal of the season. Ryshma pick up the assist.
