Bonts: Some Sure Fire Ideas to Land Boselli in the Class of 2021

I believe there are probably some former NFL players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame that don’t deserve to be there.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Tony Boselli isn’t one of those. Yet.

Boselli’s quest to be enshrined this year came to an end Saturday when he didn’t make the final cut for the 2020 class.

One local TV reporter said he was angry about the snub. There are a lot of things to be angry about in professional sports. This isn’t one of them.

Boselli has achieved hero worship status with the local media who constantly refer to him as a legend. And he has the same lofty status with some Jaguars’ fans.

But that’s not a fast pass to the HOF. It’s not Disney World. He was a very good football player. But not great.

He played in 91 games. Had a stellar outing against Buffalo HOF defensive end Bruce Smith. My grandchildren have played in 91 games. Everybody has a bad day at work.

But don’t despair.

Here are some sure fire ideas to land him in the Class of 2021 (or 2022 or 2023):

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Kahn will sweeten the deal by offering to build an added wing to the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Lenny Curry can handle the negotiations, tax exemption and incentives  – so it won’t cost him much, if anything.

Boselli associate and marketing partner Susie Wiles can launch a national “Vote for Bo” campaign. She helped get Donald Trump elected while sweeping Florida. She will have a perfect strategy for someone who doesn’t deserve to be elected to the HOF.

Finally, Boselli can become a top performer in Tony Kahn’s All Elite Wrestling promotion. Imagine the exposure on a national cable TV network as the masked “Canton Crusader.” Fans can follow the story line of the former NFL star, out to avenge being “done wrong.”  This might not get him in the HOF. But assures him of being elected Mayor of Jacksonville.

Boselli will have to wait at least one more year to land a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This was his fourth time as one of the 15 finalists for election.

Better luck next time Tony. Not really,
