USF Falls to FSU in Orange Bowl Basketball Classic

SUNRISE, Fla. – No. 19-ranked Florida State overcame a 10-point deficit and beat South Florida 66-60 Saturday in the Orange Bowl Classic.

USF scored 38 points in the paint and received a team-high 15 points from Michael Durr.

David Collins and Laquincy Rideau each finished with 14. Both Durr and Rideau each grab seven rebounds to help USF hold a 42-28 advantage on the glass.

FSU forced 24 turnovers and outscored the Bulls 19-3 down the stretch. USF has held 11 of its 12 opponents below their season scoring average.

RaiQuan Gray had 11 points, seven rebounds and three of the Semimnoles 13 steals. Anthony Polite, Trent Forrest and M.J. Walker also scored 11 points apiece.

Florida State scored 21 points off 24 USF turnovers. USF (6-6) led 31-28 at halftime.

USF returns to the Yuengling Center on Sunday, Dec. 29 to face Florida Atlantic at 5 p.m. in the final game of the non-conference schedule.

GAME NOTES: USF has finished with more offensive rebounds than every opponent but one this season. Collins made three free throws and move into third place all-time at USF with 335. USF finished with 14 more rebounds than Florida State (42-28).
