The Jacksonville Axemen have added Aussie hooker/halfback Nathan Richter and Australian halfback/five-eight Jacob Hawkins to the 2019 roster as two new import players.

Richter, also a high school teacher from Bensville, Central Coast, NSW, has played with the Umina Bunnies, St Eddies Bears, Woy Woy Roosters and the Kincumber Colts.

Highlights have been 2016 Central Coast Premiers with the Kincumber Colts and being named MVP for his high school team.

“I’ve been playing rugby league since I was 13 and to play overseas in a national competition is an opportunity I can’t wait to experience,” says Richter. “The club and community culture looks strong, supportive and very enthusiastic which I love in a footy team, so I’m keen to be a part of it all. I’m really looking forward to being an Axeman this year and helping the team go back to back.”

“This season I hope to make some lifelong friends, get involved with the Jacksonville community, and most importantly raise the trophy up at the end of the season!”

Hawkins is from the beautiful Central Coast in the state of NSW. Most recently he played first grade for the Toukley Hawks, and has been lucky enough to win 4 championships throughout his years playing rugby league.

“I have heard and learned so much about what Jacksonville and everyone involved with the club has done for Rugby League over in the USA,” says Hawkins. “I’m excited to just be a part of that. I’m also pumped to play under Sean Rutgerson and to help the boys continue to grow.”

“My goal is too help the team go back to back and lift that trophy at the end of the year.”
