ECHL: Clark’s Goal Gives Icemen Shootout Win Against Admirals


JACKSONVILLE — Everett Clark scored the only goal in a shootout as the Jacksonville Icemen came away with a 3-2 win over Norfolk before 3,651 at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena Monday afternoon.

The Icemen, coming off two road losses to Florida, improved to 8-4 on the season. It was the first shootout for Jacksonville this season.

Wacy Rabbit continued his hot streak with a game tying goal. Rabbit is the team’s leading scorer with seven goals and his home point streak continues to eight games.

Dijon Mingo scored on a power play to give Jacksonville a 2-1 lead. The Icemen have scored a power play goal in 7 of 11 games this season.

Mikhail Berdin made 27 saves in the win. Brad Barone took the loss for the Admirals after making  31 saves.

Ben Duffy put the visitors on board first. T.J. Melancon tied the game late in the third for Norfolk (8-4-1)  to the game send into overtime and eventually a shootout.

Jacksonville hosts Florida (5-3-2) Wednesday night.

ICEMEN NOTES: Dajon Mingo leads defensemen with three shorthanded points (1g-2a)…. Jacksonville is 7-1-0 when scoring three or more goals….the Icemen remain undefeated in overtime…Cam Maclise, Clark, Kris Newbury, and Rabbit are on two-game point streaks.

SOUTH DIVISION NOTES: Atlanta’s Branden Troock has four goals in his last two games…the Gladiators are 21-for-21 on the penalty kill at home….Florida’s Joe Cox leads the Everblades with six goals…Florida is tied for third with 2.50 goals-against per game….Greenville’s Garrett Bartus is third with 343 saves…the Swamp Rabbits are 2-0-0 when leading after one period….Norfolk’s Luke Nogard is fourth with a 36.4 percent shooting percentage (4-for-11)..the Admirals have outshot their opponent in six consecutive games…Orlando’s Brent Pedersen is tied for fourth among rookies with 12 points (4g-8a),,,the Solar Bears are tied for second with 4.00 goals per game…South Carolina’s Joe Masonius had an assist in his first pro game on Saturday against Orlando….the Stingrays are 5-0-0 when leading after two periods.
