GOLF: Teams Square Off in Billy Maxwell Fall Four-Ball

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Twenty-five teams were on hand to celebrate one of Jacksonville’s great golf champions, Billy Maxwell, with the fourth playing of the Billy Maxwell Fall Four-Ball at his family-owned and operated Hyde Park Golf Club on Jacksonville’s Westside.

The legendary West Texas native who won the 1951 U.S. Amateur Championship and claimed seven PGA TOUR titles, has made Jacksonville his home since purchasing the storied golf course 47 years ago, in 1971.

Unfortunately, Maxwell, who turned 89 on July 23^rd, was unable to attend the tournament this year due to health reasons. He was recognized prior to play.

The competition was split into two flights – the Maxwell 1 and Maxwell 2 – based on combined team handicaps, with gross and net competitions within both.
